EDAM is the first-mover in realizing and constructing a European framework for evaluating educational programs aiming to enhance social inclusion of vulnerable adults. It is an important step towards offering minority groups new perspectives on life.
Social inclusion of minority groups in Europe has become one of the biggest challenges in today’s society. Minority groups, which include unemployed, elderly and low-educated people, experience a variety of problems that hinder them in participating actively in society. This is where the EDAM-project, “Education against Marginalization” comes into play. Learning at any age is seen as an effective tool for minority groups to offer them new perspectives on life.
Eight European member states, i.e. the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Italy, Romania, Greece, and Denmark, will develop a first European database of Life Long Learning, offering insights in how educational programs aiming to enhance social inclusion of marginal groups can be optimized. The developed data within this scientific research project will provide teachers and policy-makers of the European Union with ideas and material for reference in enhancing social inclusion through education. Success-factors of an optimal learning environment will be described and translated into trainings for local teachers and into a uniform evaluation model. During the two-year project, a dissemination plan will ensure the implementation of the developed material with a special focus on countries in Eastern Europe and the members of the EFTA.
By providing tools for an effective learning environment, EDAM will support minority groups in fighting against their marginalization, in order to reach social inclusion.
